Manic Monday!

30 Apr 2012

Monday is a dirty word! Regardless of how awesome the beginning of your week is, someone always has to bring up the “M” word. Get you thinking that Monday is twisted. I look at every new week as a fresh start! That usually means a to-do list lengthier than the Constitution. So “Manic Monday” has turned into 15 minute casual Monday.

(And sometimes that means no bra. Shhh!)

Then a ladybug lands on your toes and reminds you of all the small beauties that each day has to offer. (Even if it is Monday : )

As you may know from past post on plus-size bottoms- I love color! Stock up on different colored shorts, skirts, and pants. It will make casual days less dirty vagrant, and more Spring sweetie.

Happy Monday, darlings!

I’ve seen brights in the color blocking stage and I’ve seen head-to-toe pastels, but pastels + brights is ready to make a grand entrance! Into my life that is. How about you join me?

(Big thanks to Andrew Fillmore Photography!!)

Spring makes me this happy. I’m finally beginning to feel comfortable in brights, but I’m waiting for Summer to bust out the vibrant hues. For the Spring prelude, it’s a toss up of the two. Stay tuned as the color blocking saga continues…

There’s no denying this season’s reintroduction of bright colors canvassed over mod inspired designs.  And I’ve been dreaming up my own a-line skirts swirled with cat-eye glasses and a comfy pair of kitten heels…

Catch is…I like to remain as casual as possible while keepin’ the skirts a flowin.’ Pairing a tee and wedges with your favorite bright skirt is the best way to stay comfortable and sexy!

And when you just don’t feel like strapping into a belt- add some character by easily leaving that top button open, and pinning on a fun brooch!

Have a magnificent Monday, darlings

Spring Into Bloom!

30 Mar 2012

I love Spring’s aromatic breezes, days filled with sunshine, and that scent after it rains. A scent so rejuvenating, it begs for a fresh start. Everything is changing this time of year, and that definitely includes our wardrobes.

Do you remember that scarf belt I made in my last DIY video?

Well check it out now with this fresh outfit idea!

I’m brightening up my wardrobe and my spirits with a mix of Spring colors. What’s your favorite Spring fashion trend?

Olive Or Twist!

14 Mar 2012

You sure don’t have to be an Irish lass to get your green goin’ during this weekend’s St. Patrick’s Day. As fun as “Kiss Me, I’m Irish” tees can be- I prefer to accessorize with green for these festivities. And yes, a stein of green beer does count when it comes to fashion accessories. ;]

The final votes have yet to be tallied, but I’m pretty certain that these shoes will be part of my holiday outfit.

St. Patrick’s Day fashion is usually defined by bright greens, but you make the rules darling. If it’s olive you’re feeling- then ‘olive’ you! :]

If you remember from my earlier post about plus size Spring trends, that pinks are hot this season! As the weather warms up, I am warming up to the idea of wearing pink. I’ve been inching closer by wearing berry and deep pink hues…

I decided to mix in another of my favorite plus size Spring trends to give this dress a touch of my own style. 1920′s garb is also a big hit on the fashion runways. So I grabbed a purple purse passed down from my great grandmother and these new heels!

What’s your favorite plus size Spring trend?

Back To The Fuchsia!

02 Feb 2012

Along with the month of January, New Year’s resolutions are simply a memory by now. It is said that the average New Year sentiment lasts only 18 days before we toss em’ out.

With February on a roll and it’s raining here in Salt Lake City- I can still feel the tides shifting. This one feels more like Spring though!

You might have noticed from past blogs on plus size fashion, that I am not fond of pink, or any bright color for that matter. However, this is a new year with many opportunities to try something new!

When I was reading up on the psychology of color, I remember a bit that said people who sport brighter colors tend to be happier overall. My goal is to stick with the brighter side of things, especially for the introduction of plus size Spring trends!

Do you have any fashion bits you’re experimenting with this season?

I hate the color pink. For year’s I’ve been told redheads cannot wear pink, and red, and orange, and blah blah blah. It’s true- some colors compliment your own pigment and features better than others, but wear what you like! For me, pink is not included in that list. However, the color pink is on fire this Spring 2012 plus size fashion season! The runways are kickin’ it with pink short suits, accents, and other business wear.

So I thought, “why not?” It’s a new year, and plenty of new beginnings and wonderful people have headed this way. So I’ll add something new to my plus size wardrobe to keep a fresh start in motion. :]

Color blocking is also sweeping the plus size runways! With geometric shaping, or just a mixture of brights- this trend is probably my favorite. Marina Rinaldi’s plus size line for Spring 2012 is full of color!

Stick with a maximum of 3 main colors for your outfit. Save Rainbow Bright for Halloween. ;]

Keep an eye up, we’ll be bringing you more plus size picks from the Spring 2012 runways!

Have a blessed Monday.

Little Drummer Girl..

12 Dec 2011

Only ten days until the Winter Solstice. There is still a sorbet of Autumn leaves on the ground. So obviously I am not the only one holding off the frigid season to come. :]

I’ll be on a train back to the snow castle this week, and I wanted to sweep together a few plus-size outfits before I exit California, and Fall exits the Northern Hemisphere.

With a swipe of my dad’s wool socks, these booties became much more comfortable.

This vintage clutch is the newest addition to my life. From the closet of a kind friend who loved it for 40 years!

I’ve learned to play around with my wardrobe when I have down time. That creates a mental inventory of everything you own. This will really help you get dressed more quickly when it counts!

If you really need it, take a few photos. You can put together your own plus-size fashion tips like VOGUE Curvy!

Enjoy your Monday!

Pumpkins, leaves, yams… a spray tan gone bad! Burnt orange is one of Fall’s biggest trends. Just so happens to also be one of my favorite colors! Now this can feel like risky business when we’re talking fashion, but it’s really quite easy.

I’ll admit that at first, orange was no friend to my wardrobe. We’d admire each other from afar, but it took a little leap before I was comfortable tacking burnt orange pieces to my style.

The best way to make the most of this plus size trend is one piece at a time. I started with accessories. Like an orange purse!

Once you get cozy with this warm hue, try adding a one-piece-pop of color in with your neutrals. This will really brighten up that smile, and if you remember from my last post on color psychology in plus size fashion. Orange is part of a family of warm colors that send your motivation flying!

Like this burnt orange top as much as I do? One Stop Plus is the place for plus size Fall fashion.

Hope you’re enjoying Fall!

xoxo,
