I think it all started with my Grandmother Eva. She was one of those classy ladies that owned more pairs of shoes than she had hairs on her head. And always a purse to coordinate with her house of heels. Which makes me feel way less guilty about my collection….literally, a collection of shoes. It must be hereditary!
Growing up a rough farm kid, I had to make up for my lost “dress up stage,” as I got older. What started with a few pairs of modest wedges, eventually became a secret society of peep-toes, and mary janes, and many towering heels I wouldn’t last 10 minutes in.
Because some things, like twirling through the living room draped in your grandmother’s jewels…never get old!
And that, is exactly what I did yesterday. I pulled out a few pairs of vintage heels, picked up from various thrift stores. I slid 60 year old silk scarves over my shoulders, and the loudest clip-on earrings I could find. Then I twirled! I twirled like I was 7 years old, and I’d just won the national twirling contest for twirling longer, and faster than any other twirler ever could.
Sometimes, we need our inner child, and a good pair of shoes to remind us what freedom feels like.
I may have inherited Gram’s love of shoes, but I sure didn’t inherit her actual shoes. Not when she was only a tip toe over 5 feet, and no bigger than one of those hula girls you glue to your dashboard.
I stand strong at 5 foot 9 inches, with a size 10 foot. Do you know how difficult it is to find attractive shoes at a size 10?!
Actually, I have some good news. It’s about to get easier!
I’ve found some of the most adorable, the most sexy shoes…in all sizes!

Love at first sight!
