I have a confession…
For the last year I’ve owned only a select few bras! Maybe you can relate. It is difficult to come by a bra that is perfect in every which way. So when I found that perfect bra, but couldn’t find it again anywhere in town- I freaked! And then I called to the magic of the internet.

 I came across a similar style, but as we all know bras are better fitted in the store. Months later my friend Stacee dragged me into Lane Bryant and that’s where the search finally ended! So a few months back my father had to undergo open heart surgery. (He has a really cool scar!) It changed the lives of our entire family. Eating healthy and exercising has become our new lifestyle. I, for one, began to value my health as means for internal success rather than only focusing on the external expectations I had of my body.

I personally took up fast walking, which turned into running (for the first time in my life!) and today I revved it up with kickboxing classes. It’s been rough, but I’ve never felt more accomplished than when I realized my endurance has increased ten fold. I haven’t lost a single pound, but I know that I am caring for my heart now….not my pant size. And let me tell you- that is the best feeling!

Today I thought- being curvy is something to be proud of, but how can us larger gals help each other be healthy at the same time? We need to stay fit & healthy so that we can be around for ourselves to enjoy, but also our family! I’ll tell you, I don’t ever want another to have to endure the pain & fear that I did when my father was laying in that hospital bed with a breathing tube down his esophagus. So many do though, and especially with heart disease at an all time high.

Today I came across “Curvy Goddess Lounge.” A community of exercises and tips specifically for plus size women. And of course, I pulled a few of my favorite fashions for hittin’ the mat. To top it off….huge savings for my favorite ladies! Check out the coupon below…

Lately, I’ve been airing on the side of obsession when it comes to DIY or “Do It Yourself” finds. There are just so many great ideas to be had!

Today’s lovely find is… a quick-n-easy magnetic board!

1. Purchase a simple cookie sheet from your local dollar store.

2. Pick out one yard of a stylin’ fabric of your choice.

3. Take those muscles to the tool box. Drill two holes into the top of the cookie sheet for your cute ribbon bow.

4. Wrap the cookie sheet with this fabric and glue the back edges. Use a glue that specifies that it is intended for metal and fabric.

5. Loop the ribbon through those two holes and wa-la!

It may have been the wave of a new semester that inspired this ensemble as I visited my parents. I wanted to feel more professional- better kept. With school pulling everyone back, I was thinking a lot about academics and future careers. So I put these plus size pieces together, and we wandered to the coast to make a day of it.

Whenever you are in an old harbor town, or any “retirement” based community- look for thrift stores! The shops set up in these senior towns means lots of bargains and great vintage pieces.

 I felt so free in this outfit. The material of my top allowed for some ocean breeze to fly through my skin. I wanted to stand above the sand in my bare stockings and become part of the water that lulls the beach through the night. If only I could I purchase a sailboat for as cheap as I got this outfit….

This week has given me an entirely refreshing and profound respect for parenting- especially single, working parents! I am caring for my nephews, and after only three days I am already exhausted. With the morning routine, shuttling around, homework, projects, and making meals- I don’t know how people do it all. 2. Torrid is always having some sort of sale, but this week I’m really digging their Buy One Get One Free accessory sale.

3. One Stop Plus has their Winter coats at 60% off! Already covered? January is the month I pick up really inexpensive items that will get me through next Winter, as well. Like boots….

4.  I love Delia*s for their variety of styles, especially boots. They are marking all Winter gear 50% off!

5. I don’t post enough from New York & Company, but this week is a must! Depending on your receipt total, you’ll get 40 to 50% off your purchase. And they have their “Big, Big Sale” going. Up to 80% off everything. Eek!

My heart is racing with excitement the last two days. The snow has finally arrived! Sledding, skiing, snow angels, and luminescent Winter nights are filling all of my thoughts. I also get to bring out my favorite Winter fashion accessories!

When you live in ice laden lands like Salt Lake- hats, scarves, gloves, and wool socks become more than just a fashion statement. They are absolute necessities. That doesn’t mean you can’t have fun mixing it up, though!

This year I am trying to keep the psychology of color a part of my fashion choices. Ever feel like bright colors should be saved for the warmer months? Forget about that- take a chance, and you’ll be surprised how easily your plus size picks put a little pep in your step.

 And the one plus size accessory I cannot live without….

 Tights! Or leggings, if you prefer. If you choose the tights, stick with nylon during the Winter months. Keeps your body heat in.
