Sealed With A Kiss Designs carries plus sizes 14 to 36, and is based out of the Los Angeles, California area. SWAK offers a variety of great plus size basics among other designs. I recently had the chance to style and preview a couple of their plus size tops- the Ruched Sleeved Top & “Lily” Cardigan.

The top is hip length, but I wanted to put together a skirted outfit for you ladies. So I belted this top into my skirt, and slipped on my comfy new wedges! :]

The material is so gentle on the skin. Smooth enough that I didn’t want to take them off! Check out my video review of these two plus size tops from SWAK Designs! Let me know what you think.

I, like most women, especially enjoy basics. It’s so important to have clothing that you can mix and match with your favorite fashion bits, while remaining comfortable and sassy. Thank you Sealed With  A Kiss Designs!

Date Night Do’s

19 Jan 2012

I was in the pharmacy about a year ago, when I noticed a wave of giggles coming from the couple in front of me. Their playful energy was engaging everyone in line that day. Both tall, slender, probably late 60′s and stitching up the space between them with their soft glances.

That’s when I decided I’d rather live single than settle with anything less than a similar quirky connection. Someone that doesn’t take themselves too seriously, but just enough to do good. Yea…I’m hopeless. So you can imagine the thought that goes into a date night, especially a first date. Instead of creating any expectations, I’m focusing my efforts on having fun and dressing appropriately. The latter is a tough bit for a night out in January. Luckily, I’m going casual and keeping warm. I’ve put together a couple plus size outfits

I stick with flats or boots for a casual setting. Especially in these icy temps.

Lately I love the coupling of blue and black. I think of creating outfits in the same way I would design a room. Use one or two hues, and maybe a third accent color and then work with various patterns within those hues. This doesn’t always apply. Sometimes I get a little wild with mixing colors.

For a date night though, I would say keep it neutral. You’ll have plenty of time to flash it up with bright colors- if that’s your thing. There is quite a bit of psychology that comes with color, and you’ll both be affected by that. So wear what makes you feel confident, and create the mood with a color of your choice!

More importantly- have fun! Be who you are in this moment, and don’t apologize for that.

Casey’s Finds!

07 Nov 2011

A memory foam mattress & duct tape! That sums up the extent of my fashion in the Winter. When you live in the snow, “looking cute” is not something you attempt first thing in the morning. From the time you wake up to the point you hit your doorstep for work, there is a good chance the clouds just dumped 6 inches all over your driveway. Your stylish threads morph into exercise attire by the end of your snow shovelin’ workout.

Last year I spent the Winter looking like Randy from “A Christmas Story.”

So this year, I vow to find funky & functional Winter wear to add to my plus size wardrobe. With the holidays running up on us, there are plenty of sales headed your way. Signed, sealed, and delivered from your favorite plus size fashion shops! So let’s shop….

Avenue Plus Size Marilyn Collar Belted Sweater Dress (CHARCOAL GREY,18/20)

Sweater dresses, cardigan sweaters, pull-over sweaters, sweater tunics…I’m thinking warm & cozy this Winter.

Jessica London Plus Size Fairisle Sweater (BERRY TWIST COMBO,22/24)

And some great boots to go with this sweater! Ahem…and 50% off now!

Jessica London Plus Size Comfortview 'Rush' Leather Boots (COGNAC,8 1/2 W)

Come closer. Closer…I have a little secret for you. You can top these sales off with even more savings with this One Stop Plus Size Clothing Coupon.

Enjoy!

We all have guilty pleasures. There is no denying that!

Seeing as I’m home bound these days, getting life in order for a two month train trip all about the West coast. I’ve found a little freedom from thought inside the world of my Netflix queue. Lately, my guilty pleasure has been all wrapped up in this t.v. show called, “Drop Dead Diva.” A very girly, a very silly show, that I wouldn’t normally indulge in. Yet, I am hooked on the main character, “Jane Bingum,” and her style!  A fierce plus size woman, that incorporates classic career wear with eye popping accessories and does it oh, so, very well.

 (Brooke Elliott as “Jane Bingum”)

Jane, like myself, knows a good thing when she sees it. The figure flattering sheath dress in plus sizes, doesn’t fall short of that list. A major must have trend for Fall 2011!  Sheath dresses are made with the hour glass figure in mind, but don’t let that deter you. I just love this dress when paired with a belt, to bring attention to all different shaped waists.

There is one rule in the fashion of our lives. Never say never to something you love! Instead, find a way to tweak it so it works for you, and then flaunt it! Anything is possible with a little creativity.

That’s the fun part with this dress trend. You can take a well cut plus size sheath dress, and either wear it alone, or stir up your look with a neutral jacket or cardigan, an smaller purse,  maybe a clutch. Then  dazzle your way up with a few jewels. Wa-la!

Roamans Plus Size Abstract Print Jacket with Sheath Dress

This slimming dress is one of those crucial pieces in any plus size woman’s wardrobe. When you’re feeling classic, you can snatch a vintage clutch and some pearls, keeping it simple! Dinner party, the office, a work function, girl’s night out. I just love how versatile this plus size fashion favorite is! I actually picked up my own sheath dress recently. No way could I resist slipping into it for a few photos. This one’s a keeper!

I’ve been picking up great fall dresses with these new coupons!

You know when you say something that maybe you weren’t quite ready to say, but it felt right in that moment? Then later on, through retrospect, you feel silly.

Yea… that’s kinda how I feel right now, as I lay on the grass, writing this in 85 degree sunshine. I’m wondering what I was thinking when I prematurely started talking and writing about summer hitting the road. See, I live in a place where the summers are mild and winter tends to kick all the other seasons out of bed a lil’ early.

With 95 degrees of burning rays projected for the high today…I’m ditching the calendar! And allowing myself to be drenched in everything summer!

Maybe I’m just a last minute kind of lady, but I’ve decided against letting the likes of cardigans and closed toed heels anywhere near my daydreams for a while.  Instead, I’m holding onto empire dress lines and opening a window into all of my favorite plus size trends of the moment.

Like  this one…

Belts! These waist cinchers never lose my fancy. And the color black is not a seasonal thing for me. It’s more like that go-to girlfriend that you pick up when life becomes a craze. A lifetime necessity. This time though, things were a little different…

Geometric everything is hot this summer, and I kinda got a little hot when I found this piece at Savers thrift store for only 5 bucklings.

I slipped my new geo-skirt over head, cinched it with a belt, and delicately shaded my eyes with vintage inspired sunglasses.

My roommate threw on some Dianne Reeves as we rolled through downtown with the windows up. Life felt like it was happening in slow motion. Like my animal print belt and movie star glasses gave me the curves of Mae West and a bit of Jane Russell’s sass.

For a minute there, it felt like we were just ridin’ through New York City…without a worry in our hearts…

Well hello, Friday! It’s always nice to see you.

Let’s strap on those sassy red heels and get this dance party started!

The weekend has finally popped in for a visit, and I don’t know about you but I feel oh, so, very alive!

We have sweltering summer digits in full bloom again, and I say we soak it all in before the dog days are really over. So in the spirit of a good sunshine season, and an exciting weekend that awaits…

Being a “day jobber” makes the weekends all the more enticing. Well, minus the hour I spend every Friday night filing through my impossible wardrobe.

Ok, ok…it only seems impossible when you’re rushing around, searching for every incarnation of your summer collection. Until we ladies finally reach that point of frustration, where the only possible solution to this conundrum is to throw up our arms, and deem our closet useless. As we grab the car keys, and book it for closest emergency shopping spot.

Going out ensembles put these crazy runway expectations on me…mmm, around Thursday, as I anticipate the weekend adventures.

I am a plus size woman with a pear shaped body. So finding attractive party dresses that do not sacrifice comfort, always seems to morph into that unattainable mirage at the edge of the desert.

Although, I  like to imagine that I am the star, and my outfit is the spotlight, and we are going to rock this rowdy runway! And this becomes the only way for me to get past my over analysis of my going out attire.

(P.s. it is such a good feeling when I finally reach that moment of fashion satisfaction, where my outfit compliments how fabulous I feel. Im fairly certain you know what I’m talking about, right?! :) )

And just in time for more weekend debauchery, I am going shopping for plus size party dresses . Online! Because “Little Black Dress,” you have worn out your welcome in this curvy girls closet!

I’m dashing around town like I’ve just stepped into an ABBA song, and I have exactly 2 minutes and 47 seconds to find the most perfect, the most colorful, the most seductive dress for summer’s first most fun weekend. I had spent all winter then spring draped in earthy tones that at times made me wonder if I was actually turning into a Red Leaf Maple Tree. Or did I just look like one?

Four hours later, I’m slipped into a knit tank dress that felt like if the little hairs on my skin could have sex with the fibers in my gentle new dress, they so would be! And I couldn’t have been more comfortable. =)

And then…baaam! Like a blade through a grass patch. I felt the wrath of the fashion goddesses as I flip through my good friend’s camera, realizing I LOOKED LIKE A BLOATED PEACOCK!

All I knew that night was that I was having fun and I felt good, so I attempted to let all those worries about my peacock dress disappear with the sunset. As any wise woman would, I learned from my color conundrum and have moved on to sizzling new summer styles. To more ahem…flattering ones, of course.

When hurriedly shopping for bold new dresses, because you’ve been listening to 80’s music all day, and can’t simply find anything to wear to tonight’s soirée…take a friend! Good God, please take a friend!

I now know that before one dives head first into a rainbow; it’s best to peek at a color wheel, or at least the latest issue of ELLE Magazine.

Apparently, just because two or three colors were sloshed onto a cute v-neck, knee length summer dress…does not mean they compliment your skin, or your hair the same way they compliment each other.

Hello yellow!

these give a whole new meaning to shoes a girl would die for…
