Hatspirations!

04 Apr 2012

I have a small, kind of funky shaped head, but I love hats! And big, floppy hats are that cherry a top your outfit this season!

Vogue Curvy from Vogue Italia has been providing me with ‘hatspirations’ all day…

So I finally got the courage to whip out my buy one, get one free deal from Lane Bryant and go hat shopping at my one of my favorite plus size stores!

There’s no denying this season’s reintroduction of bright colors canvassed over mod inspired designs.  And I’ve been dreaming up my own a-line skirts swirled with cat-eye glasses and a comfy pair of kitten heels…

Catch is…I like to remain as casual as possible while keepin’ the skirts a flowin.’ Pairing a tee and wedges with your favorite bright skirt is the best way to stay comfortable and sexy!

And when you just don’t feel like strapping into a belt- add some character by easily leaving that top button open, and pinning on a fun brooch!

Have a magnificent Monday, darlings

Over here at Plus Size Steals we have the honor to work with some really magnificent companies. Companies that literally began sprouting roots in their family garage with just a dream and a pair of hands.

You’ve seen my review of the Los Angeles based plus size boutique Sealed With A Kiss Designs! This time around, I’d like to share one plus size clothing line that takes my breath away with every part of their being.

Pronounced ”ee zhee zhee.” IGIGI was founded by Yuliya Raquel in 2000, and is based out of the San Francisco, California area. Each step involved in providing these gorgeous plus size fashions are created and finished in the Bay Area! IGIGI’s mission is: “to transform the world’s view of beauty. IGIGI creates sexy, stylish, and sophisticated collections of plus size clothing to be a major part of the lifestyle of a fashion-loving modern woman – her wedding, the parties she attends, her work, her fun, her fashion, her life!
Our designs accentuate and celebrate the beauty of the curvaceous female figure. A major focus of IGIGI is to provide our customer with the right fit for her body shape…”

IGIGI’s Spring 2012 collections are especially inspired by vintage designs. Naturally, I am falling even more deeply in love with them this season!

Enjoy & let me know what you think of IGIGI…?

If you remember from my earlier post about plus size Spring trends, that pinks are hot this season! As the weather warms up, I am warming up to the idea of wearing pink. I’ve been inching closer by wearing berry and deep pink hues…

I decided to mix in another of my favorite plus size Spring trends to give this dress a touch of my own style. 1920′s garb is also a big hit on the fashion runways. So I grabbed a purple purse passed down from my great grandmother and these new heels!

What’s your favorite plus size Spring trend?

It may have been the wave of a new semester that inspired this ensemble as I visited my parents. I wanted to feel more professional- better kept. With school pulling everyone back, I was thinking a lot about academics and future careers. So I put these plus size pieces together, and we wandered to the coast to make a day of it.

Whenever you are in an old harbor town, or any “retirement” based community- look for thrift stores! The shops set up in these senior towns means lots of bargains and great vintage pieces.

I felt so free in this outfit. The material of my top allowed for some ocean breeze to fly through my skin. I wanted to stand above the sand in my bare stockings and become part of the water that lulls the beach through the night. If only I could I purchase a sailboat for as cheap as I got this outfit….

Blue Bow-Tie Top- $2

Octagon Belt- $1

Wool Skirt- $4

Navy Tights- $2

Leather Shoulder Bag- $5

Red Sweater (on bag)- $1

Grey Flats- $3

Plus size outfit= $18 total!

This is probably the least expensive plus size outfit ever! This doesn’t always play out like this, but if you’re patient you’ll get lucky at your local shops. Do you have a favorite plus size outfit that was a total steal? What is it and where did you pick it up?

Back To The Fuchsia!

02 Feb 2012

Along with the month of January, New Year’s resolutions are simply a memory by now. It is said that the average New Year sentiment lasts only 18 days before we toss em’ out.

With February on a roll and it’s raining here in Salt Lake City- I can still feel the tides shifting. This one feels more like Spring though!

You might have noticed from past blogs on plus size fashion, that I am not fond of pink, or any bright color for that matter. However, this is a new year with many opportunities to try something new!

When I was reading up on the psychology of color, I remember a bit that said people who sport brighter colors tend to be happier overall. My goal is to stick with the brighter side of things, especially for the introduction of plus size Spring trends!

Do you have any fashion bits you’re experimenting with this season?
